Meet Michelle – an NYU grad, she began her career at EY, working as a tech consultant for the financial services firm. A little over two years later, Michelle made her way to Vistar Media, joining the Connected Devices team as a Product Analyst. Working on the Cortex platform, Michelle helps to improve the functionality of our supply software, while in her free time, you'll most likely find her at one of NYC's many music venues. Recently, we chatted with Michelle to learn more about how she's adjusted to life at Vistar.
What is the most interesting part of your job?
I've been at Vistar for seven months now and I am still learning something new every day. I love to learn, so coming from a background with zero advertising and adtech knowledge, I appreciate that I can learn from brilliant colleagues and continuously enhance my skill set in areas from product, to customer service, to learning about hardware and software at a deeper level.
Since starting at Vistar, how has your view on out-of-home changed?
I have so much respect for it and I definitely pay more attention to DOOH screens now. There is just such a multitude of behind-the-scenes work that goes into a person simply seeing an advertisement on a screen. From the media owner who owns the screen to the advertisement on the screen, DOOH is kind of like a beautiful person – you may think they don't have a lot of depth, but then they blow you away once you understand them better.
What's the best team event you’ve attended?
Before I officially started at Vistar, Ciara invited me to a pizza tour with members of the Product, Supply, and Cortex Engineering teams in attendance. I thought that it was such a sweet idea to invite me so I could get to know others... and eat delicious pizza!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself
I'm a music enthusiast. I've been to over 50 music concerts and festivals in my life, and I have a bucket list of other music festivals that I want to attend!
What's your favorite thing about New York?
If there was a song that embodied how I feel about New York, it would probably be Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys and JAY-Z. Like most people, I have a love-hate relationship with the city, but at the end of the day, I truly love this place. You're never at a loss for things to do, an eclectic group of people live here, and New York slays every major scene out there from tech to art to music to fashion. NYC means and represents so many things for me – I'm grateful to be here.
What is one thing you wish you would have known prior to joining Vistar
There isn’t anything that I can think of that I regret not knowing beforehand!
