Investment by media owners has been a major driver of this growth, as the number of global digital ad units has grown from 160,000 to 300,000 in less than 5 years – not including the tremendous growth we’ve seen in some of the more unconventional place-based advertising, such as screens in entertainment venues and signage that was once just used for wayfinding.
